Fort Hood Memorial Service
"This is a time of war. And yet these Americans did not die on a foreign field of battle," Obama told more than 15,000 soldiers and others gathered this afternoon at the nation's largest military installation, four days after the worst act of violence on an American base. "Here, at Fort Hood, we pay tribute to 13 men and women who were not able to escape the horror of war, even in the comfort of home."

Health Care Reform Bill Vote Results
According to The New York Times, the vote was very close, 220-215. One Republican even supported the bill, another boost for the Obama administration. The new bill will now allow for almost all Americans to have health cover and no insurance will be able to refuse those who already have an existing condition.
The price tag for this new healthcare bill totals $1 trillion, something that the Republicans are not happy with as the wealthy will be the ones to stump up the extra cash by increasing taxes. As you would expect, the Democrats were very happy when they had their 218th vote recorded.
This will be a huge overhaul of the healthcare system which already totals $2.5 trillion; this is one-sixth of the U.S. economy. Whether it is the right change remains to be seen, do you agree with the new changes?

What Does Hubris Mean?
Hubris is a term used in modern English to indicate overweening pride, haughtiness, or arrogance, often resulting in fatal retribution or Nemesis. In ancient Greece, hubris referred to actions which, intentionally or not, shamed and humiliated the victim, and frequently the perpetrator as well. It was most evident in the public and private actions of the powerful and rich. The word was also used to describe actions of those who challenged the gods or their laws, especially in Greek tragedy, resulting in the protagonist's downfall

Michael Jackson Died
Famous Celebrity and pop music icon, Michael Jackson (the famous singer/musician) has just passed away today.
History:
In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller — widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form — helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists. While Jackson was a member of Generation Jones [4][5], he had an impact on multiple generations of music lovers.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Sirtris Pharmaceuticals Resveratrol
Sirtris Pharmaceuticals: Resveratrol reduces fat and boosts endurance by activation of SIRT1, first aging gene shown to accelerate human metabolism
Findings published in Cell suggest broad implications for the treatment of diseases of aging such as diabetes
CAMBRIDGE, MA and Strasbourg, France ¨C November 16th, 2006 ¨C Sirtris Pharmaceuticals and the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg announced that in an article published today in Cell, ¡°Resveratrol improves mitochondrial function and protects against metabolic disease by activating SIRT1 and PGC-1¦Á.¡± Lagouge et al., Cell. 2006; 127: 1¨C14, SIRT1 was shown for the first time in a human population to accelerate metabolic rate.
In a human population in Finland, SIRT1 was linked to increased energy expenditure as demonstrated by genetic studies of three variants of the SIRT1 gene. The study also showed that treating mice with resveratrol increased mitochondrial biogenesis leading to increased exercise endurance and protection from diet induced obesity. Activation of SIRT1, the best characterized of the recently-discovered family of sirtuin enzymes, was shown to be the mechanism by which these therapeutic benefits occur. Mice were dosed with 200 mg/kg or 400 mg/kg of resveratrol daily in either normal chow or high fat chow. The mice on resveratrol lost weight due to decreased fat, and this was attributed to an increase in the number and function of mitochondria. The resveratrol-treated mice also exhibited improved insulin sensitivity and an increased metabolic rate. Notably, mice treated with resveratrol showed a two-times increase in exercise endurance. These effects were shown to be mediated through SIRT1 and PGC-1¦Á.
The authors of the Cell article include the teams of the principal investigator Johan Auwerx, M.D. Ph.D., Professor at the Medical Faculty in Strasbourg, at IGBMC (Unit¨¦ mixte de recherche CNRS, Inserm, University Louis Pasteur), France, and of Pere Puigserver, Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore (now at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School in Boston), both members of the Scientific Advisory Board of Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, and Sirtris scientists: Peter Elliott, Ph.D. Senior Vice President and Head of Development, Phil Lambert, Ph.D. Senior Director of Pharmacology, and Jill Milne, Ph.D., Senior Director of Biology.
"This work is significant because it shows that a SIRT1 activator can protect against metabolic disease, highlighting the therapeutic potential of sirtuins. Resveratrol a compound found in the skin of red grapes and hence in red wine, could very well explain the French Paradox," said Johan Auwerx.
Sirtris has initiated a human Phase 1b clinical trial in diabetes with SRT501, a proprietary formulation of resveratrol with improved bioavailability. SRT501 is the first small molecule to enter human clinical trials that is designed to activate SIRT1. Sirtris has applied this scientific discovery to the development of SRT501, which activates SIRT1, for the treatment of diseases of aging such as metabolic and mitochondrial disorders. In addition, Sirtris has a robust pipeline of novel small molecule drug candidates that are potent SIRT1 activators and are chemically distinct from resveratrol.
"This important work highlights the significance of SIRT1 as a therapeutic target for metabolic disease. Based on the continuing scientific evidence, as shown in this most recent Cell article, we are continuing to advance drug candidates to translate the science of sirtuins into new treatments for diseases of aging, such as diabetes," said Peter Elliott, Ph.D. Senior Vice President and Head of Development at Sirtris Pharmaceuticals.
"These new human data support SIRT1 as a therapeutic target for metabolic disease. Our broad pipeline of sirtuin modulators have potential in a number of diseases of aging," said Christoph Westphal, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Sirtris Pharmaceuticals.
Online copies of the article can be obtained at http://www.cell.com/.
About Sirtuins
Sirtuins are a recently discovered family of enzymes that promote normal cellular function. In particular, sirtuins improve the function of mitochondria which generate energy in cells. When organisms face adversity, sirtuins are activated as part of a natural process that maintains healthy function.
Therefore, sirtuins are attractive drug targets which may be therapeutically beneficial for diseases in which mitochondria are dysfunctional, often observed in diseases of aging. These diseases include metabolic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes and other mitochondrial disorders. Sirtuin therapeutics offer the potential for a novel class of drugs that can treat significant diseases of aging in a new way.
About Sirtris Pharmaceuticals
Sirtris Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics that modulate sirtuins. Sirtris has the dominant sirtuin intellectual property estate and know-how with a comprehensive suite of reagents, proprietary assays, transgenic animal models, and biomarkers. Sirtris is building a robust pipeline of therapeutics for diseases of aging in the areas of metabolic and mitochondrial diseases.
Sirtris Pharmaceuticals was founded in 2004 by Rich Aldrich, Richard Pops, Paul Schimmel, David Sinclair and Christoph Westphal and has raised a total of $82 million since inception from investors including: Bessemer Venture Partners, Cardinal Partners, Cargill Ventures, Genzyme Ventures, Novartis Bioventures Fund, Polaris Venture Partners, QVT Fund LP, Skyline Ventures, The Wellcome Trust, Three Arch Partners, and TVM Capital. Blink-182 Summer Tour Schedule Released; Travis Barker is Back
dates will include 50 different show dates, and will take place at various venues across the country, including a few shows within Las Vegas. The journeying has been a daylong time coming, and now the group will re-unite for a daylong extension during the summer concert season.
The Blin-182 journeying is produced by Live Nation, and won't just be the group that is performing at all of the events. Other artists that will be joining them at given stops along the way include Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth, and Chester French just to name a few. Some of the supporting groups may even be bigger draws than Blink-182 themselves, especially the All American Rejects that have been making their presence known on Top 40 radio around the country recently.
Blink 182 tour dates scheduled for this summer.
After Travis Barker was in a plane crash last year, it was thought that they wouldn't be doing a journeying this year, but it seems that Barker is doing better, and that the group had the urge to get back on the road. Members Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge will all be on hand for the trek across the country, and it is sure to highlight some of the best music Blink-182 has to offer. It has been five years since they toured together, so this will be a thin instance for fans to get a glimpse of the band, and it will be a good stop-gap until the band releases a new album that has been rumored to be in the works for some time now.
Tickets for the upcoming Blink-182 journeying dates go on sale May 30th on the Live Nation web-site (livenation.com) and some of them are thought to be quite affordable at around $20.00 for a couple of the dates. This will be a chance for fans of the group to see the group again, and see if the music is as strong as they once believed. It will also be a treat to see some of the great acts that will join them this summer.

David Cooks Brother
"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now," Cook, 26, told the crowd at the benefit for brain cancer research (see video here). Cook was both serving as grand marshal and running with a team that raised $98,000.
Cook's brother, Adam, 37, had battled the disease throughout Cook's American Idol competition, and had the chance to see his younger sibling perform in April 2008 on the famous stage. At the time, Adam, a married father and lawyer in Terre Haute, Ind., was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
"I'm not going to lie to you. He still has a tough road ahead of him," Adam's longtime friend Darrick Scott had told PEOPLE. "But this trip to Los Angeles has put a whole new pep in his step."
The Idol judges had even noted that having Adam in the front row may have given David the inspiration needed to win.
Simon Cowell on Sunday offered his condolences. “I was incredibly saddened to hear the news," he said in a statement to PEOPLE. "I met Adam Cook a few times at American Idol. He was an incredible guy, and right now my thoughts are with David and his family.”
In March this year, the Idol champ Cook canceled two shows on his current tour "to deal with personal family matters." His rep had told PEOPLE that he had recently been spending time with his brother.
For Sunday's race, the singer flew into the capitol after a performance Saturday night at Sun Fest in Palm Beach, Fla., where he had spent most of the day hanging out. His plan was to take a 3 a.m. flight.
"I don't run normally, but it seems a small sacrifice compared to what those who have fought cancer have endured," Cook earlier had told PEOPLE. "And the fact that my fans have rallied to raise so much in donations is the biggest compliment."
At the early-morning benefit, he said, "I lost one today," addressing all the runners, supporters and organizers, "but I gained 9,000 [friends] and I will be here every year that they will have me."

Adam Cook
Adam Cook
Adam Cook is the brother of American Idol winner David Cook. The 36-year-old Cook battled brain cancer, which reportedly spread to his spine. He had been undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
Adam cook passed away at 36 years old in the early hours of May 3, 2009. His death was announced by his brother David Cook while opening the Race for Hope in Washington D.C., a benefit race for brain cancer.
Adam Cook Background
Adam Cook was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 1998. He is currently battling his second diagnosis of cancer which has spread to his spine and brain.
Cook was a lawyer up until his condition worsened. Cook was sick in bed before the news that he would be able to see his brother play.
Adam Cook and American Idol
Despite his illness, Adam Cook was able to attend the Idol finale on May 21, 2008 to see his brother win the competition. He and wife Kendra Cook flew to Los Angeles from their home in Terre Haute, Indiana, on a private plane. Reports say the flight was paid for by an anonymous private donation.
Adam Cook was able to see his brother compete twice during the season. In April of 2008, Adam Cook flew to California on a chartered medical jet with medical staff handy. The flight was paid for by his friends and a local councilman. A local radio station provided a paid hotel stay across the street from the studio where Idol tapes.

Bank of America Shareholder Meeting
Bank of America Shareholder Meeting:
Basically the news here at the Bank of America Shareholder Meeting is that
1. The board may decide to kick out the ceo, Ken Lewis.
and
2. There will most likely be many environmental protesters at the Bank of America Shareholder Meeting in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, April 23rd.
Another major Bank of America shareholder has announced plans to vote out CEO Ken Lewis at the annual shareholders' meeting next week.
Those in the banking industry fear the shareholder vote could be too close to call.
"This is going to be a rough meeting. Anything can happen," said UNC-Charlotte economics professor Tony Plath. "Some are going to oppose management just because it's popular to do right now."
The latest person to call for Lewis to step down is Connecticut's state treasurer. The state's $20 billion pension fund owns $3.2 million Bank of America shares.
Treasurer Denise L. Nappier said on Tuesday, "It's time to clean house and set the financial health of the company on a sustainable path."
Stockholders are angry about the bank's large purchases, spending $30 billion on Countrywide and Merrill Lynch. But on Monday Lewis defended the buys.
"These two strategic acquisitions we made, we're already seeing the benefits," Lewis said on CNBC.
Plath says the vote of the big institutions matters more than that of an individual shareholder.
"The more shares you have the more your votes count. The idea is the bank wants to make sure it tells its side of the story to the institutions that really count," Plath said.
The vote is next Wednesday.

Jaguars New Uniforms
Jaguars New Uniforms News
But the uniforms sure are cleaner than the overly busy old uniforms, this was accomplished largely by removing the golden color to where it belongs: The iconic growling Jaguar head. Smartly, the familiar logo, teal tongue and all, was not messed with.
The Jaguars say they want their new uniforms to be timeless and clean.
The timeless we’re not as sure about. After all, these new sparkly helmets may look awesome under the stadium lights, but they don’t exactly say "im a classic".
This means there is no gold on the numbers or in the Jaguars’ names. No gold strip in the stripe in the football pants. And say goodbye to the stalking Jaguar on each sleeve. And not a minute too soon: From more than a few feet away, it looked like a mushy indistinct golden blotch in the uniforms.
Some people may complain that it’s boring to make the Jaguars uniforms like this, but what cannot be denied is that the new look is cleaner and much more elegant. Yes, that can be a good thing in a football uniform.
Another smart move: It’s teal jerseys and white pants for home games with the uniforms, a classic Jaguar football nfl combination. And it’s white home football jerseys and black pants for away games, for sure better looking jersies than the boring all-white looking uniforms of the past. Jaguars new uniforms are really nice looking
That’s all you’re going to get with the Jaguars new uniforms, by the way: The all-black uniforms that showed up a few times the last few years are extinguished. Owner Wayne Weaver flatly ruled these football jersies out.
Teal Jaguar jerseys — the color stays the same as last year, Reebok says — have a simple combination of white numbers and football players' names, outlined with black on the jersies. The white jerseys have black numbers and numbers and names, outlined with teal, though the teal is so skinny that the numbers appear all black (a striking look that is, yes, clean). The numbers are more block appearing than the most recent Jaguar uniforms.
New Jaguar football jerseys do not have the stripes near the bottom of the Jaguars new uniforms sleeve, and neither has a contrasting color around the neck. A small “Jacksonville” and a small “Jaguars” under it are put below the neck. There’s a small amount of gold around the “Jaguars” but you cant hardly see it on the new Jerseys. Very simple.
Some swoopy lines are repeated on the black and white pants of the Jaguars new uniforms, replacing the more conventional stripes that were on the old white pants. (The snarling Jaguar logo is also on each set of pants, on the upper right leg.
nfl football jerseys are made from a cloth that’s supposedly 30 percent less heavy than the old nfl jersy uniform material, and they’re more formfitting as well for the football players and the Jaguars most specifically. That hopefully makes them more difficult for opposing football teams to yank on the new Jaguar jersies.
A noticeable difference is the two swooping lines — a Reebok rep called them “thick piping” — that go from the front of the Jaguar jersey, under the arms and around the back to just another the numbers, without meeting. Think of the Denver Broncos look, though not so wide a swath.
A trick touch is the new helmet. It keeps the basic look the team has had on the Jaguars new uniforms since the first season, but we’re told there are currently “micron-sized flakes” of “chromatic pigment” on the helmet and face mask that makes the color change under different light — from black to hints of teal. We’re not sure if that’s a look that tough football players should be fooling around with. But for better or worse, it will be the Jaguars’ alone. No one else is doing it.
This “thick piping” is the uniform’s biggest departure from the traditional NFL look. Some will dislike it, but it’ll likely grow on you before too long: The Jaguars are only 15 years old, and to adopt a totally retro-looking uniform would feel a bit odd.

Thunder Over Louisville
Thunder Over Louisville is almost here, and organizers are working around-the-clock to get everything done in time.
Before the sun has even come up, Thunder producer Wayne Hettinger is awake, drinking coffee at the command center.
Hettinger is the man who's been behind the magic of the Thunder Over Louisville for 20 years, and he said the only thing better than Thunder itself is the day before the big event.
"It's Christmas Eve for the guys that are planning the show, that's for sure," he said.
Although Santa won't be attending the Thunderous festivities Saturday, there will be plenty of red and green.
"You're going to see greener greens this year," Hettinger said. "Brighter reds."
And hopefully, blue skies for the Thunder Over Louisville.
"We're excited about that. That means people can come early, can come pick your place to park, pick your place to watch the show. That's a big science. Have to know where to watch thunder from -- up high, downtown, in a building, outside?" said Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO Mike Berry. "I suggest near a port-o-let and a corn dog booth."
"We've had B1B bombers come in before, but this year, we've got a pair that are going to fly," Hettinger said. "That's going to make a lot of noise and fill a lot of air space."
But it's the sounds from the crowd that have Hettinger coming back year after year.
"The kids are going to be so excited, and that's what you live for," he said.
The air show of Thunder Over Louisville begins at 3 p.m. Saturday and the fireworks display is set to begin at 9:30.

ncaa championship game 2009
ncaa championship game 2009
The NCAA Tournament will conclude tonight with a championship matchup between the ACC's North Carolina Tar Heels and the Big Ten's Michigan State Spartans. Both coaches have been here before, which should make this an exciting Big Dance finale. The game is set to get underway at 9:21pm ET at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
2009 NCAA Championship Game Odds at Sportsbook.com have the Spartans listed as a heavy +7.5 against the spread underdog.
The opponents keep getting tougher, but the Michigan State Spartans just keep getting better. There does not appear to be a challenge that this team is not capable of stepping up to. Just ask the heavily favored Louisville Cardinals or the UConn Huskies. The Spartans were suppose to be dispatched with ease by both squads, but instead, Tom Izzo's troops did the sending off. They will find themselves in a similar situation, again, this evening. Do they have what it takes to fend off what most people believe is the most talented team in the country?
Thus far the Spartans have shown an ability to take their game to the opposition. Only one team has shot over 43 percent against them (Kansas), only one team has had more than 31 rebounds against them (UConn), and only one team has managed to score over 70 points against them (UConn). It is hard to envision the Tar Heels suddenly dictating things to a team that has done the dictating most of the season, but especially during this tournament.
The Spartans, after handling the Huskies, are now 8-1 in their last nine neutral site games. The last team, other than Ohio State in the Big Ten tournament, to beat them at an impartial location was North Carolina. The Tar Heels pounded the Spartans 98-63 at the same Ford Field that will host tonight's battle back in December. The Spartans had 21 turnovers in that game and hit just 61.9 percent of their free throw attempts. Michigan State has shored up their ball security during the NCAA Tournament, averaging 12 turnovers per game (versus 17.8 assists per contest); they have also shot 77.62 percent from the charity stripe in their run to the championship game.
This should be a tightly contested game as the Spartans have the guards to matchup well with Ty Lawson both offensively (Kalin Lucas) and defensively (Travis Walton). They also have plenty of inside presence to contend with Deon Thompson and Tyler Hansbrough. Spartans center Goran Suton, who had a rough outing against UConn, gives MSU an x-factor with his ability to shoot from the outside. Suton will likely need a big game,

Billa Telugu Movie Review
Billa Telugu Movie Review:
Hollywood movies have crossed these orthodoxies long back and the day of scintillating shows by the heroines on screen prevails abundantly in Bollywood these days. Yet, the conservative town of Tollywood was a bit backwards in this area. The culture has been broken by none other than the riveting actress Anushka.
The Tamil movie ‘Billa’ starring Ajith saw the Malayalam nymph Nayanthara in a skimpy bikini show that made a colossal wave among the youth and old alike. Now it is Anushka’s turn in Prabhas’s ‘Billa’, to spell bind the spectators in Telugu. She appears for the first time in Tollywood in such attire. Meher Ramesh directs this upcoming movie.

Jay Cutler Rumors
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer ran into Jay Cutler at a UFC fight last night. He shares the details of his meeting with Dan and speculates on where Cutler might end up ...
Glazer said that Cutler and his agent Bus Cook are trying to make themselves by looking like they didn't want a trade from Denver. Glazer said it's become a "he says, she says" thing.
Glazer thinks that Cutler is trying to avoid getting crushed PR-wise. Glazer thinks Cutler is an "affable" guy and doesn't want a fight with anyone.
Glazer said Cutler thinks that he's headed to the NFC. But Glazer said the Broncos won't necessarily trade him out of the AFC, because if a much better offer comes from within the conference they'll likely take it.
Glazer says that the Cutler-to-Redskins rumors probably mean Daniel Snyder would also want Mike Shanahan.

Elite Eight 2009
2009 Elite Eight Likely Dominated by Big East and Big 12
at the very least two. If results from last night's Sweet 16 action are any indication, the 2009 Elite Eight will turn into the Big East and Big 12 Invitational - as if this college basketball season was anything else.Out of the four teams to get into the Elite Eight last night, three of them were Big East programs. Connecticut once again breezed by in the NCAA Tournament with a win over Purdue, while Pittsburgh gutted out a win over Xavier, and Villanova dominated Duke. The 2009 Elite Eight will have one game completely made up of Big East teams, as Pittsburgh faces Villanova for the East Regional title. But that may only be the first Big East showdown at the end of the NCAA Tournament. Now it is time to seriously consider that the Final Four could be made up entirely of Big East schools. The 2009 Elite Eight is almost halfway full with Big East programs, with Pittsburgh, Villanova and Connecticut in. Tonight, Louisville is heavily favored against Arizona, and Syracuse has a showdown with Oklahoma. If both teams win, then five out of the eight Elite Eight teams will be from the Big East, by far a record. Not only that, the Final Fourmatchup could wind up having Louisville play Connecticut, with Syracuse facing the Pittsburgh-Villanova winner. Not even the 1985 Final Fourwith three Big East schools could match that. But for those sick of Big East schools, there is one alternative left. The Big 12 still has three schools in the running, with Missouri already in the Elite Eight. Kansas will play Michigan State to go along with Oklahoma facing Syracuse tonight. The 2009 Elite Eight could easily be made out of the five Big East programs, two Big 12 Schools in Missouri and Kansas, and just one leftover spot for either North Carolina or Gonzaga. Or there could be four Big East schools and three Big 12 ones, if Oklahoma beats Syracuse and Kansas wins over Michigan State.

Whitestone Bridge
The boom truck was driven by Alpha Painting and Construction Company, a contractor for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority hired to paint the bridge’s Queens and Bronx towers, according to Judie Glave, a spokeswoman for the authority. Two men sustained minor injuries, one had a head injury and another had a fracture leg, and both were taken to New York Queens Hospital.
“Right now we have our maintenance crews out there, they have to cut the metal part of the sign and remove it,” Ms. Glave said. “The hope is to get it open by rush hour.” She admitted that might be difficult.
By early evening, crews for the M.T.A. were able to remove one piece of the fallen steel roadway sign on the southbound side of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, but the biggest piece is still hanging over the divider on the northbound, Ms. Glave said. At best, she said, “we hope to open the three southbound lanes by 7, but that’s not written in stone. They are working as hard as they can to try and get open as soon as possible.”
George Attwal, a witness who said he was driving his Volkswagen Passat two cars behind the truck, described it as a pickup truck, with a cranelike operator in its bed, perhaps used like a cherry-picker to fix things, he said.
“I guess he forgot to lower it and it hit the roadway sign,” Mr. Attwal, 23, of Flushing, Queens, said in a telephone interview. “It collapsed right in front of us and two people fell off. They were standing in the back of the pickup. On person fell off and he rolled onto the road itself.”
Mr. Attwal, who was returning from a business call in New Jersey and headed to Long Island, said the accident “all happened within two seconds.” The car in front of him slammed on its brakes, and he hit his brakes hard to avoid a collision.
He estimated that the truck was going 15 to 20 miles an hour, but questioned why the two people would be outside on the bed of the truck.
Ms. Glave said she had no information about where the passengers of the truck were at the time. As soon as officials arrived on the scene, they directed Mr. Attwal to turn around and take the Throgs Neck Bridge.
Ms. Glave said that the last time a bridge in the vicinity was closed, it was February. The Throgs Neck Bridge was shut down in both directions for 90 minutes due to high winds that overturned an empty tractor-trailer.
60 Foot Phallus
An 18-year-old has secretly painted a 60ft drawing of a phallus on the roof of his parents’ £1million mansion in Berkshire. It was there for a year before his parents found out. They say he’ll have to scrub it off when he gets back from travelling.

White House Easter Egg Roll Tickets
The Easter Egg Roll grew in popularity and the original public event actually took place on the grounds on the United States Capitol. Familes would come for all day picnics and children would roll eggs and themselves down the lush Capitol lawn. Unfortunately the egg rolling took a toll on the US Capitol’s grounds. With little money to adequately maintain the landscaping of its grounds, Congress passed a law banning children’s play activities from the Capitol’s grounds. This seemed to be the end of the Easter Egg Roll!
On Easter Sunday of 1878 President Rutherford B. Hayes was out taking his morning stroll. He was approached by youngsters who were disappointed by the constraints of the new law. They asked the president’s permission to use the South Lawn of the White House for their egg rolling activities. Unfamiliar with egg rolling traditions, President Hayes returned to the White House and was briefed by his staff. The president then issued an executive order that should any children arrive to egg roll on Easter Monday, they were allowed to do so. As the children were turned away from the US Capitol, they were warmly welcomed at the White House!
Future presidents have honored this tradition and the Easter Egg Roll has officially been hosted by the First Family on the South Lawn ever since. The tradition of the Easter Egg Roll has expanded to include activities such as “Egg Croquet” and “Toss and Catch.” Although the new activities are enjoyed by the youngsters, the highlight of the day remains the rolling of a brightly colored hard-boiled egg across the lawn. The President and First Lady are often in attendance and they are joined by members of the Cabinet, various celebrities, and, of course, the official White House Easter Bunny! Each participant in the Easter festivities receives a special gift: a presidential wooden egg complete with the signatures of the President and First Lady.
President and First Lady Obama are slated to host the 131st White House Easter Egg Roll. The theme if this year’s event is “Let’s Go Play” which is designed to encourage America’s youth to engage in health, physically active lifestyles. This year, the South Lawn of the White House will open its gates to children ten years old or younger and their families. Featuring the Easter Egg Roll, the day’s activities will include sporting events, cooking classes, concerts, crafts, and storytelling.
Tickets are strictly required for this event. Public tickets for the Easter Egg Roll will be distributed on-line beginning Thursday, March 26th. The tickets with a specific timed entrance will be e-mailed to each confirmed guest. These tickets must be printed and presented to gain entry onto the South Lawn for the festivities. Tickets can be obtained through the White House website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll/

Tivo Teams With Blockbuster
Dallas-based Blockbuster (BBI) currently offers thousands of movie titles for download to the Web due to its 2007 acquisition of Movielink. Beginning in the second half of this year, it will offer downloads to TiVo's Series 2, Series 3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL DVRs.
TiVo DVRs will be sold at Blockbuster stores around the U.S. and at Blockbuster.com. The companies said they would both gain new distribution outlets.
DVD-rental pioneer Netflix Inc. (NFLX) has cut severely into Blockbuster's market share over the past several years with its discs-by-mail service, forcing Blockbuster to adapt with an online offering of its own. Now, Blockbuster wants to make sure it can offer an alternative to Netflix's movie-streaming service.
Netflix also offers many films that can be streamed to the set top through partnerships with Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Xbox 360 and LG Electronics Inc. ( LGEJY).
With unlimited plans starting at $8.99 a month, Netflix customers can rent at least one DVD at a time and stream as many movies as they like.
"Ultimately, our vision is to work with TiVo so that their subscribers can access movies not only through our OnDemand service but also from our stores and through our by-mail service as well," said Jim Keyes, Blockbuster's chairman, in a statement.
Tom Rogers, chief executive of TiVo, said it "could not be more natural" than for Blockbuster customers to think of the service TiVo provides.
DVRs allow viewers to pause, rewind, fast-forward or instantly replay any live broadcast by recording it onto a hard drive.
Blockbuster's move comes less than a week after it reiterated its determination to remain a going concern despite credit difficulties.
The company said three of its largest creditors have agreed to extend its revolving-credit facility through Sept. 30, 2010, alleviating concerns about a debt payment that would have been due this August.
