Villanova Location
Villanova is located in a suburb Northwest of Philadalphia Pennsylvania. It is a catholic school named after Saint Thomas of Villanova. This evening three seed Villanova defeated number one seed Pittsburg in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA basketball tournament.
Elite Eight 2009
The 2009 Elite Eight will be filled with the cream of the crop in college basketball, without a doubt. With all the favored teams getting into the Sweet 16, the 2009 Elite Eight will be filled with juggernauts. It just so happens that more than half of them may be from one conference, or
2009 Elite Eight Likely Dominated by Big East and Big 12
at the very least two. If results from last night's Sweet 16 action are any indication, the 2009 Elite Eight will turn into the Big East and Big 12 Invitational - as if this college basketball season was anything else.Out of the four teams to get into the Elite Eight last night, three of them were Big East programs. Connecticut once again breezed by in the NCAA Tournament with a win over Purdue, while Pittsburgh gutted out a win over Xavier, and Villanova dominated Duke. The 2009 Elite Eight will have one game completely made up of Big East teams, as Pittsburgh faces Villanova for the East Regional title. But that may only be the first Big East showdown at the end of the NCAA Tournament. Now it is time to seriously consider that the Final Four could be made up entirely of Big East schools. The 2009 Elite Eight is almost halfway full with Big East programs, with Pittsburgh, Villanova and Connecticut in. Tonight, Louisville is heavily favored against Arizona, and Syracuse has a showdown with Oklahoma. If both teams win, then five out of the eight Elite Eight teams will be from the Big East, by far a record. Not only that, the Final Fourmatchup could wind up having Louisville play Connecticut, with Syracuse facing the Pittsburgh-Villanova winner. Not even the 1985 Final Fourwith three Big East schools could match that. But for those sick of Big East schools, there is one alternative left. The Big 12 still has three schools in the running, with Missouri already in the Elite Eight. Kansas will play Michigan State to go along with Oklahoma facing Syracuse tonight. The 2009 Elite Eight could easily be made out of the five Big East programs, two Big 12 Schools in Missouri and Kansas, and just one leftover spot for either North Carolina or Gonzaga. Or there could be four Big East schools and three Big 12 ones, if Oklahoma beats Syracuse and Kansas wins over Michigan State.

Whitestone Bridge
An M.T.A. construction truck struck an overhead road sign on the Queens-bound plaza of the Whitestone Bridge at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, causing the steel sign structure to come crashing down on all six lanes and injuring two people who were on the truck, according to M.T.A. Bridges and Tunnels. The accident, which did not injure other passengers, the agency said, forced the immediate closure of the bridge. Cars were being rerouted to the Throgs Neck or Robert F. Kennedy Bridges just before the onslaught of Friday afternoon traffic.
The boom truck was driven by Alpha Painting and Construction Company, a contractor for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority hired to paint the bridge’s Queens and Bronx towers, according to Judie Glave, a spokeswoman for the authority. Two men sustained minor injuries, one had a head injury and another had a fracture leg, and both were taken to New York Queens Hospital.
“Right now we have our maintenance crews out there, they have to cut the metal part of the sign and remove it,” Ms. Glave said. “The hope is to get it open by rush hour.” She admitted that might be difficult.
By early evening, crews for the M.T.A. were able to remove one piece of the fallen steel roadway sign on the southbound side of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, but the biggest piece is still hanging over the divider on the northbound, Ms. Glave said. At best, she said, “we hope to open the three southbound lanes by 7, but that’s not written in stone. They are working as hard as they can to try and get open as soon as possible.”
George Attwal, a witness who said he was driving his Volkswagen Passat two cars behind the truck, described it as a pickup truck, with a cranelike operator in its bed, perhaps used like a cherry-picker to fix things, he said.
“I guess he forgot to lower it and it hit the roadway sign,” Mr. Attwal, 23, of Flushing, Queens, said in a telephone interview. “It collapsed right in front of us and two people fell off. They were standing in the back of the pickup. On person fell off and he rolled onto the road itself.”
Mr. Attwal, who was returning from a business call in New Jersey and headed to Long Island, said the accident “all happened within two seconds.” The car in front of him slammed on its brakes, and he hit his brakes hard to avoid a collision.
He estimated that the truck was going 15 to 20 miles an hour, but questioned why the two people would be outside on the bed of the truck.
Ms. Glave said she had no information about where the passengers of the truck were at the time. As soon as officials arrived on the scene, they directed Mr. Attwal to turn around and take the Throgs Neck Bridge.
Ms. Glave said that the last time a bridge in the vicinity was closed, it was February. The Throgs Neck Bridge was shut down in both directions for 90 minutes due to high winds that overturned an empty tractor-trailer.

60 Foot Phallus
60-ft penis painted on roof. This makes us giggle, because we’re 12:
An 18-year-old has secretly painted a 60ft drawing of a phallus on the roof of his parents’ £1million mansion in Berkshire. It was there for a year before his parents found out. They say he’ll have to scrub it off when he gets back from travelling.

White House Easter Egg Roll Tickets
The annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House is an enduring springtime tradition. This year President and First Lady Obama will continue this tradition which dates back to the administration of President Andrew Johnson. President Johnson’s family dyed eggs on Sunday which the youngsters of his family would then roll on Easter Monday.
The Easter Egg Roll grew in popularity and the original public event actually took place on the grounds on the United States Capitol. Familes would come for all day picnics and children would roll eggs and themselves down the lush Capitol lawn. Unfortunately the egg rolling took a toll on the US Capitol’s grounds. With little money to adequately maintain the landscaping of its grounds, Congress passed a law banning children’s play activities from the Capitol’s grounds. This seemed to be the end of the Easter Egg Roll!
On Easter Sunday of 1878 President Rutherford B. Hayes was out taking his morning stroll. He was approached by youngsters who were disappointed by the constraints of the new law. They asked the president’s permission to use the South Lawn of the White House for their egg rolling activities. Unfamiliar with egg rolling traditions, President Hayes returned to the White House and was briefed by his staff. The president then issued an executive order that should any children arrive to egg roll on Easter Monday, they were allowed to do so. As the children were turned away from the US Capitol, they were warmly welcomed at the White House!
Future presidents have honored this tradition and the Easter Egg Roll has officially been hosted by the First Family on the South Lawn ever since. The tradition of the Easter Egg Roll has expanded to include activities such as “Egg Croquet” and “Toss and Catch.” Although the new activities are enjoyed by the youngsters, the highlight of the day remains the rolling of a brightly colored hard-boiled egg across the lawn. The President and First Lady are often in attendance and they are joined by members of the Cabinet, various celebrities, and, of course, the official White House Easter Bunny! Each participant in the Easter festivities receives a special gift: a presidential wooden egg complete with the signatures of the President and First Lady.
President and First Lady Obama are slated to host the 131st White House Easter Egg Roll. The theme if this year’s event is “Let’s Go Play” which is designed to encourage America’s youth to engage in health, physically active lifestyles. This year, the South Lawn of the White House will open its gates to children ten years old or younger and their families. Featuring the Easter Egg Roll, the day’s activities will include sporting events, cooking classes, concerts, crafts, and storytelling.
Tickets are strictly required for this event. Public tickets for the Easter Egg Roll will be distributed on-line beginning Thursday, March 26th. The tickets with a specific timed entrance will be e-mailed to each confirmed guest. These tickets must be printed and presented to gain entry onto the South Lawn for the festivities. Tickets can be obtained through the White House website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll/

Tivo Teams With Blockbuster
CHICAGO (Dow Jones) -- Blockbuster Inc. will bring its movie-download service straight to the television set thanks to a pact it announced Wednesday with digital video recorder pioneer TiVo Inc.
Dallas-based Blockbuster (BBI) currently offers thousands of movie titles for download to the Web due to its 2007 acquisition of Movielink. Beginning in the second half of this year, it will offer downloads to TiVo's Series 2, Series 3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL DVRs.
TiVo DVRs will be sold at Blockbuster stores around the U.S. and at Blockbuster.com. The companies said they would both gain new distribution outlets.
DVD-rental pioneer Netflix Inc. (NFLX) has cut severely into Blockbuster's market share over the past several years with its discs-by-mail service, forcing Blockbuster to adapt with an online offering of its own. Now, Blockbuster wants to make sure it can offer an alternative to Netflix's movie-streaming service.
Netflix also offers many films that can be streamed to the set top through partnerships with Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Xbox 360 and LG Electronics Inc. ( LGEJY).
With unlimited plans starting at $8.99 a month, Netflix customers can rent at least one DVD at a time and stream as many movies as they like.
"Ultimately, our vision is to work with TiVo so that their subscribers can access movies not only through our OnDemand service but also from our stores and through our by-mail service as well," said Jim Keyes, Blockbuster's chairman, in a statement.
Tom Rogers, chief executive of TiVo, said it "could not be more natural" than for Blockbuster customers to think of the service TiVo provides.
DVRs allow viewers to pause, rewind, fast-forward or instantly replay any live broadcast by recording it onto a hard drive.
Blockbuster's move comes less than a week after it reiterated its determination to remain a going concern despite credit difficulties.
The company said three of its largest creditors have agreed to extend its revolving-credit facility through Sept. 30, 2010, alleviating concerns about a debt payment that would have been due this August.

IBM layoffs 2009
IBM employees get another dose of bad news today as word got out that there would be in excess of 2800 jobs terminated. It is estemated that there have now been over 4000 layoffs by the company as of late. The company is being very secrative about the job terminations but the most recent layoffs seem to be in the research development sales distribution and systems technology departments even though IBM says they are not targeting any particular department. There is so much talk and tension about the layoffs that the Alliance union site actually shut down from an excess of online traffic.
